Our Personal Background

Who are we? Where do we come from? These are some helpful things to know if we're going to be on a team together, so allow me to introduce ourselves :)

Megan

Megan grew up in the suburbs of New Orleans until 6th grade, when her family elected to move to the Houston area during the months surrounding Hurricane Katrina. Megan remembers her youth very fondly, always having great friends, excelling in school, and cherishing her parents Mark and Camille and older brother Alex. These days, she loves to read, experience beautiful scenery (lush forest green trees are her favorite), and enjoy her friendships dearly.

By nature, Megan is extremely sweet-spirited and supportive, as well as phenomenally detail oriented and an excellent rule follower. Being an accountant, those are great qualities to have! To be honest, I sometimes joke that I hope all of our kids have her personality, as she truly is a delight to lead :). Compared to my microwave-like external processing, Megan is like an oven of patiently formed and deeply held thoughts. But once convinced, Megan will stay the course without blinking an eye, characterizing her as both loyal and disciplined.

While always having a concept of God, it was in high school where Megan became actively involved in her faith. She was a part of a great youth group that laid a solid foundation, and during this time witnessed her brother go from being a known atheist to a devout believer. What a powerful testimony! In college, Megan experienced the richness and vitality of Christian community like she never had before. Countless women intentionally invested in her life during  freshman and sophomore year especially, and she's never looked back!

Jeremy

I am native to Houston, TX - or as I learned to say in college, "Houston Houston," in order to differentiate myself from all the suburbs :). I'm the second of 4 kids to my awesome parents Scott and Kelly, who raised me in the Christian faith, taught me the value of hard work,  and always prioritized my development.

Being involved in so many activities growing up has translated to me juggling several interests as an adult, including finance, ministry, writing, web development, fitness, and Houston sports teams :). In regards to my personality, I'm a D-S / Pioneer-Nurturer / INFJ / 1wing9, or in other words, a big picture yet systematic visionary leader who wants everyone to feel loved while still getting the mission accomplished, and without compromising on any of our values along the way.  In other words, I live in a constant state of tension!

In my personal faith journey, there have been several defining moments that have shaped my spiritual life on top of my parents' influence. The first came my sophomore year of high school, when feeling deeply underwhelmed by the successes and relationships life can offer us, it finally 'clicked' for me that God is the only one worth living for, and the only one who can truly satisfy us (1 John 2:15-17). Another happened in college, where I learned that the Christian walk is more about having a genuine relationship with God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - than about my 'performance' in adopting Christian disciplines, and that only through this connection can I truly 'perform' anyway (John chs. 15-17).

Thankfully, I have by no means 'arrived' at spiritual maturity, but rather, am continuing to grow more and more each day by God's great leadership.

Together

After meeting at our church small group at Texas A&M and being friends for a year and a half, Megan and I started dating on February 3rd, 2014, were engaged on November 30th, and married on June 27th the following year. That made us married college students, which is a whole story in itself! But don't worry: we graduated :). I have my bachelor's in finance and Megan's earned her Masters in Accounting and CPA certification as well (she's amazing).

From the beginning, we've elected to make God the center of our marriage, allowing Him to use us and plant us wherever and however He wishes. That one choice has been our 'x-factor' - taking us everywhere from Houston to College Station to the Middle East and now to Fayetteville. What an adventure it's been! And almost never a predictable one. Overall though, we wouldn't have it any other way. We love each other, we laugh all the time, and we have peace knowing we are right in line with God's plan for our lives. On to the next chapter!
